Love IS…

Most of our definitions of romantic love are constructs of love dictated to us through the use of media and our experiences from our childhood that defined love. Both of these ‘ideals’ are inaccurate and often have nothing to do with love at all, but are rather a reflection of our needs and wants in a relationship. Which is to say; that ‘love’ is what we feel we need reflected back to us through our significant ‘other’ or from any intimate relationship. We are actually ‘in love’ with an ideal of what we believe we can receive from another.

We tend to search for ‘love’ to be reflected back to us in all the wrong places hoping for our ‘ideal’ and then settling for not being alone. But what are we actually searching for?

We are searching for someone to meet our ‘needs’, our conditional expectations that we have set and we have often come with a list of these needs. Yet the only way we can actually have these needs met would be if we met them ourselves.

We ask for physical descriptions, romantic notions, and worse: we ask for the very things we are lacking within ourselves. An example of this would be after experiencing a long list of men who had commitment phobias we want someone who is committed to us. A worthy goal. However, if we have had a pattern of men (or women) who couldn’t commit to us, it is more likely that we have the commitment issue and our partners are just mirroring it back to us. And why would we do this to ourselves?  It may be that we do not feel safe in relationships and therefore choose men who can’t commit!

However, this doesn’t mean that our mirrors are exact replicas; rather it means if someone lacks commitment we attracted them or requested a ‘soul’ contract so that we can learn something about our Soul’s path. When we don’t learn it, we get more opportunities to open us up to the learning our Soul’s choice for us. It may not be commitment that is our issue. It may be self-confidence or it may be that we are learning to love ourselves and in both of these cases having someone with a commitment phobia would be perfect. And something as ‘big’ as self-confidence or self-love would take life times to learn.

“Our search for love has a motivation that we need to identify and understand so that we know what we are attracting and what our Soul’s purpose is.”

The point I’m making is that our definition of “love” is often based on an unreliable source, whether it is [1] a romantic sentiment created through our media culture that is an imaginary ideal that has no truth or authenticity as it is a fantasy that has nothing to do with love; or [2] our definition comes from our experiences of love, often based on our childhood and the patterns we have been repeating since then.

Love isn’t about meeting our ideals or giving us what we need or believe we need, like more romance, safety, commitment or “characteristics” that we often desire in a mate. Love is our ability to share, to give unconditionally, to accept a person for who they are and to take our needs out of the picture. Love is about the other person. Love is about letting go of all of our fears, beliefs and idiosyncrasies that we often blame ‘others’ for and about taking responsibility for all of who we are so that we can love others as well as ourselves. Love is knowing who we are and expressing this to another. Love is infinite without conditions, judgments, fear or resistance. Love is!

And lastly, our search for love has a motivation that we need to identify and understand so that we know what we are attracting and what our Soul’s purpose is. Our Soul in its infinite wisdom chose this life and all the circumstances that have occurred in our life to assist us to know love. All of our relationships are steering us towards our purpose. As I have said many times, relationships are what help us grow the most on this journey. Since we are moving towards love our relationships are all teaching us something about our purpose. So if we could view all of our relationships as a message instead of failure and look at what they are showing us from a ‘bigger picture’ we would be able to have a glimpse of this purpose.

What is our motivation for desiring a healthy relationship (either new or getting a current one back on track)? What are the fears that motivate us to desire love? What hasn’t worked in the past? And what do we feel we have learned through all of our relationships? These are all messages our Soul has designed to move us towards who we are and for the quest for Love to take us to all the right places.

I invite you to take some time this month and examine your choices and desires towards love. Know that everything is perfect for you to grow towards who you are and to express Love in its infinite wisdom. Love is something you share and give to the world. Find a way to express it and Love will find you!

The Filters of Fear or Love

Last month we discussed “expectations and attachments” and how they impact our enjoyment of life through keeping us stuck in how we respond to situations and people. Through this I shared that we all have filters on how we view the world. We often find it difficult to comprehend how a certain filter, such as the feelings of abandonment, insignificance, not being enough, being unlovable or being unappreciated can impact how an event is perceived in our lives. And the reality is that we all have these filters of fear! Our filters impact how we interpret and view the world. Our filters block us from experiencing the Truth and BEing Open to Love where we would have no filters.

How do these filters come to be? We would have chosen to work through certain patterns, beliefs and fears with our Soul Group prior to coming to this life. Whether you believe in having one life or multiple, we are still connected to the larger consciousness system or Source or the Universe or God in a way that our Spirit is connected to a higher power. This allows us to have a support system – our Soul Group – that works with us to grow our consciousness or evolve our spirit. To do this we offer to work with individuals who will assist us to grow and evolve. We choose a certain view on the world as part of this growth process. This view is how we see the world. That is why when things happen we often default towards a certain belief. The default positions are the  filters that are prevalent throughout our lives and we may not even be conscious of how these filters impact our lives.

Let’s look at how our filters work. Since it is something I have worked with most of my life I can offer ‘abandonment’ as an example. When your core filter is around abandonment it makes you see abandonment in most areas of your life. When a friend, family or situation happens we often view it through this filter. We see a break-up as abandonment, someone upset or angry as abandonment, someone passing away as abandonment, financial difficulties as abandonment, job challenges as abandonment – do you see how ubiquitous it can become? When we are in a relationship we filter everything that happens as abandonment and this fear changes the relationship. The problem is that our partner will have a whole other filter with which they see the world. And each person believes what they see to be the truth: that their perceptions are what they are seeing in reality. However, they are seeing the world through a filter or even several filters.

When we get in an argument or altercation with another person we argue because we believe we are ‘right’. Yet there is no clear definition of what is right and wrong when you have a filter perceiving each event and person. The filter in itself is skewing the result or perception. Yet we will get angry fighting our perspective and have no idea that our filter is even engaged. The fight no longer has to do with what is going on but rather on what the other person is doing to trigger our ‘abandonment’ filter.
What can we do? First we need to establish what our filters and triggers are. How does our filter skew how we see the world? How prevalent is this filter in our life? How conscious are we? Then it would benefit us to be as conscious of our emotions or feelings at all times. The reason being that if we are anything other than happy then we are allowing our filters of fear to interfere with our wellbeing!

On the other hand, Love can change the nature of our filters… When we give Love we open ourselves to viewing and perceiving the world differently. Love is a fascinating topic; it is the only true energy that exists. When we let go of our fears, Love prevails! It also can change our perceptions – we can clearly understand when we are not in Love and it allows us to make a choice – how would we rather BE? Love isn’t the emotion that we believe it is. Love just IS! It is the absence of fear. It resonates from our Divine Spark that connects us to our Source. It is the only energy that exists. That is why when we have fears around money, the energy of money can be restrictive. It is because our filter of fear continues to create our perceptions and this will influence how we view money and restrict the flow of energy – in this case ‘money’ or ‘money energy’. When we remember that everything is energy and energy is Love – then there are no restrictions – everything will flow.

When we are conscious of our thoughts, feelings and emotions then we can make a choice – do you want to experience the world through your fears or through Love? We can BEcome present and aware each moment we are expressing through our filters of fear and being present and aware means we can then choose to Open to the flow of Love instead. Love flows effortlessly. Fears change how we see the world. Obviously we would all prefer to have life flow without restriction and the only way this can occur is by remembering that we are in charge of how we respond to situations and people. When we feel ourselves in a perpetual loop of our underlying filter of fear we know we are restricted and not seeing the world clearly. On the other hand, if we can feel this loop we can make another choice. The brilliance of life is that we can always make another choice. I choose to BE aware of the filters that focus on the fears that I have chosen to work through in this life. I choose to hold space by opening up to the Flow of Love that is ever present, at all times. I choose Love.

Contemplating Love

As I contemplate my birthday today (written on birthday) I wonder about Love Month this year. Each year since I began this blog I have chosen February as Love Month and write something that I hope will inspire you to Love Unconditionally … or choose Love over fear. This has been quite the last couple of years for me with loss and my first birthday without my mother. I know this puts me in a contemplative mood and helps me to wonder about new possibilities. We all aspire to Dream Big on our Birthdays and focus on all the Magic that may transform over the coming year. I know that Love is important to me but it isn’t just the love of another I seek but to also Love Unconditionally and create Acceptance in my Life.

These are my goals this year and I strive to fully embrace this as my State of BEing. It is said, however, that if you are truly ready for a Beloved in your life then the Beloved would show up. So what am I missing if I don’t have that love with another? I feel that Self-Love is the area that I continue to seek clearer understanding. Seeing oneself as a Beloved will attract a Beloved. Tom Campbell says we already ‘Love’ ourselves, but don’t necessarily ‘like’ ourself and he spoke of the problem with narcissism in our latest show. We – or I – focus on areas that I want to fix – my health, my addiction to sugar, my body image. This year I experienced the worst sugar detox flu as I am determined to end my addiction to sugar (as I thought I had many times) and then as soon as that balanced itself out, I managed to put my back out (still not sure how that happened unless it was from a fall 3 days prior?). So my new Fitbit has not completely motivated me as I assumed it would (even though as a piece of technology with promise I love it). And the weather has also been quite temperamental and even the best days we had were NOT the best for my health.

However the point here is that I have been focusing on the areas I want to fix – before I feel ready to embrace myself and another. And this is exactly what I share each month that is NOT the answer. It means I feel I need to fix, heal, change, manipulate or control from a ‘doing’ place and won’t be happy until I have done this. My BEing place knows that I no longer want to BE a sugar addict and I am changing this because it is for my Health and Well-BEing. Nonetheless feeling like I have something wrong with me (an addiction) doesn’t help my self-confidence or help me embrace the Divine Essence within me.

Instead, like many others, I have shame, guilt and embarrassment around my Self and this doesn’t allow me to fully Embrace the Beloved within. I am not seeing the Divine Goddess that I am.

I think quite often we shame and guilt ourselves and this is something we have learned at a very early age. We fear we are unworthy of Love and Acceptance and we unconsciously sabotage the Divine Worthiness of just BEing Who we Are. We learn these behaviors from our parents and each generation before us has learned this behavior. It is within the collective unconscious that we feel unworthy. And sometimes if feels no matter how often we hear this we are unable to embrace the Divine within us.

My hope and intention this year is to uncover the Truth behind my fears and to Embrace the Divine Goddess I know exists within. This is to let go of the shame and guilt that I hold around different areas in my life, like my health and body. This is to know beyond any doubt that my Divine Essence is Perfect and my body is just catching up with the Beauty within, Reflecting my Truth. I want to know beyond a doubt that I am worthy of Love and Acceptance. I will know that I can unconditionally Love and Accept others from this place of my Divine Essence. I will know LOVE – for our deepest wish is to Love and BE Loved. I will uncover the Beloved within myself and Embrace this throughout my Being.

So this year’s theme for Love Month is more contemplative then previous years. It is to focus on what I Dream most: to not only receive Love but to offer Love; to not only have Love but to understand the Divine Love within. Michelle Gordon wrote the 9th book of the Earth Angel Series named “The Twin Flame Reignition” (released Jan 20th, 2018) and within this fictional – and known to be prophetic book, my character in the book meets her Flame and travels to England to connect up with Michelle at a retreat. Maybe not surprisingly I was recently offered accommodations (prior to the publishing of the book), meals and a retreat in a Castle in England for my next birthday (courtesy of Tom Campbell). I have a feeling that this year will bring more than I expected but exactly what I Dream Big about!

What are Your Dreams when it comes to Love? What areas are you focused on? And when you contemplate Love Month and where you are in your life – what are you Desiring most with regards to Love? I always say ‘Dream Big and Let the Magic Unfold’ on our Birthdays and this Year My Wish to You is to Never Give Up – it doesn’t matter how old you are or what stage you are at: Love is the Source of Life! Allow your Deepest Dreams to Magically Unfold! Allow Love to Inspire you to Love Unconditionally. BE LOVE. From my Heart to Yours  ♡

Understanding Our Choices

Understanding our choices is the topic I want to explore this month. This month has been filled with choices: some I found were sabotaging and others empowering. I filled my days during this Venus retrograde with new choices and becoming conscious of my sabotaging efforts as a result of those choices.

I have been preparing for my interview with the Hulnick’s on their new book “Remembering the Light Within” which has been very confirming of my work over the past few years and my work with this material brought up some of the key points I am working with in this article. These key points were further anchored through me and my clients in recent weeks.

How can we see that all the things that are apparently happening ‘out there’ are really just part of the ‘story’ we’ve created about ourselves and our situation? How can we see that all the ‘things’ out there are actually ‘neutral’ and we are the ones who choose to get upset with – or excited by – ourselves or others? And how do we see that we end up ‘judging’ ourselves or others from a place of EGO instead of the opportunity to come from a place of ‘acceptance’? It is always one or the other: judgment or acceptance! Unfortunately judgment seems to be ingrained in our behaviors, beliefs and actions and it is accepted that we judge ourselves or others because it is unconscious.

In their new book, “Remembering the Light Within” Dr’s Mary and Ron explain that the “thoughts you project and the story that you’ve created about yourself become a powerful attractor field that draws to you experiences that validate and thus reinforce your beliefs and your resulting story.” I’m going to give an example that will relate to this idea.

We have discussed in many blogs the concept of ‘our story’ and this story typically relates to one or more of our three basic core fears: fear of the unknown; fear of abandonment or separation; or fear of unworthiness. We often experience our core fears – and therefore stories – in our relationships. So someone leaves us or betrays us. This is our perception of what is happening which is a judgment. And this abandonment or betrayal happens because we have already established this story from our past experiences. So we are choosing to react judgmentally instead of seeing each event as neutral. We are justifying our reaction by saying something like “I’m unhappy because…”. It keeps the ‘story’ alive and then events are all perceived within the story. People do something and we are justifying what is happening as our story and core belief.

When someone leaves they aren’t leaving us. When something happens that feels like a betrayal it is because we have judged it through our experiences and story as a betrayal. Those people are just reacting from their own experiences and story; their own fears. Their issues very likely have nothing to do with us. But our ego can’t see it that way. We are too attached to our story and how we feel within the situation and we justify what is happening as what is happening to ‘us’.

Our choices come around recognizing that we are choosing to either add them to our story and judge the situation as ‘happening’ to us or … we are choosing love. And when we choose love this is when we can reframe our issues as blessings. We can take responsibility for everything that happens because it doesn’t happen ‘to us’ it is a neutral happening and we can know it has a Divine Purpose in our lives; that all of our struggles and challenges are opportunities for Blessings and healing.

A point that the Hulnick’s make is that “unresolved issues aren’t in the way; they are the way”. They offer us an opportunity to heal. How empowering is it to know that each struggle or challenge is helping us grow and heal? “Remembering the Light Within” like other great teachings suggests that these ‘challenges and opportunities’ will guide us to remember we are already whole and we just believe these things that are ‘happening’ to us show where we are ‘perceiving’ we are not whole but separate from Source.

When we can take responsibility for everything in our lives we move into a place of acceptance and we choose how we want to BE inside. We can choose to BE happy regardless of what is happening outside of us and know that when we want to blame or justify our reason for being unhappy that it is our own ‘stuff’ coming up as a gift for us to heal. Instead we often seek acknowledgement from others and share all of our problems in hopes to confirm our justification for being upset. We are allowing the outside to determine how we feel instead of choosing how we want to feel and letting that be how we respond to life.

Can you understand your choice in every moment is to choose Love, Compassion, and Acceptance that we are already Whole, Awake and connected to the Divine Source. We are a Soul having a human experience and our True Essence is LOVE!

The Question of Love

February is Love month on Intuitive Soul and as I pondered what I wanted to write this year, two very important signs came into my awareness. I watched “Arrival” and I prepared for my second interview with Linda Howe. Why are these important? In some ways they don’t have anything to do with love and in other ways they can shift your awareness of love completely.

In the movie “Arrival” I was completely enthralled with the last question Louise asks Ian: “If you could see the whole story of your life from start to finish would you change things?” Without giving away the movie this is the perfect question for all of us. If you knew your whole life story would you make different choices? Would you live life to the fullest, knowing that things will happen, but we can choose how we want to respond to them? We don’t have to Love differently just because we know that someone will leave or die! We can choose to embrace all the beauty and perfection that exists in this moment.

It made me think: just because someone is going to leave does it mean it was less significant or that it was a failure? We have a tendency to protect our heart believing our heart can be broken. We also tend to create addictions so that we don’t have to feel our discomfort. What if that wasn’t really why we were here? That it isn’t about the love we are able to hold onto but rather the capacity to love. What if everyone in our lives are here to assist us to expand our ability to open our hearts, to Love unconditionally and to know we are loved? This is what we all want anyway, to love and be loved. So why would we love less or feel less loved just because someone leaves? And why do we believe that once they leave we have to throw out everything that reminds us of that relationship?

This pondering led me to my second sign. I was preparing for Linda Howe’s interview about her book “Healing through the Akashic Records: Using the Power of Your Sacred Wounds to Discover Your Soul’s Perfection”. She talks about the purpose of people in our lives triggering our Sacred Wounds and that the role of the offender is to teach us to love unconditionally! Does it get more powerful than that?

So if we can see our whole life from start to finish and we knew about all the relationships in our life and we knew from our Soul’s Purpose it is about learning to love unconditionally would we change anything? Or could we just stop worrying about the length or whether this relationship becomes ‘the one’? Could we just enJOY every moment we have and LOVE?

To me this changes everything. I personally have gotten all caught up in my relationships: from friends to the friends who leave, to my romantic relationships or the lack thereof, to whether once I begin dating thinking of where this will go instead of just enjoying the time I get to spend with them. My ‘Sacred Wound’ is abandonment and although I have learned to stop taking things so personally it is still my Sacred Wound and it is still the primary concern I have when people stop communication with me. I still wonder what have I done wrong. Knowing that my Sacred Wound is really what I have chosen to help me love unconditionally definitely adds a new dimension to my life. Knowing that the friends and lovers in my life are here to help me love unconditionally is a very profound thought! Even the ones who appeared to betray or hurt me are actually still here to show me how to love unconditionally.

Think about the implications of this and the question of love. Love is! Love isn’t attached to a person, place or thing. It is the expression of our Soul. It is the expression of Source. If every encounter and every trigger of our Sacred Wound is really an opportunity to Love unconditionally what would that look like? And would we, could we, change each opportunity if we knew our lives from start to finish? Or is it a matter of how we choose to experience each moment and relationship? In “Arrival” the question was quite a bit more intense however and my questions arose because of how powerful this one question is.

Things will continue to ‘happen’ around us, relationships will come and go, but our capacity to love is unlimited. The question of love isn’t “Will it happen?”; it is “Can I love unconditionally?”

Love month isn’t just about romantic love, friendship or family love, it isn’t about the confusion around self-love, it is: can I love unconditionally? Can I release the need to only love when the right circumstances occur? Can I love knowing that this person can leave or die? Can I love without judgment? Can I look into another’s eyes and see the unconditional love they have within them? Can I know that they are in my life, whether for a long time or short time, to teach me about unconditional love?

I choose to say ‘YES’ but my Sacred Wound is still there and it may always be there but at least now I am knowing that it is there in the first place to help me Love Unconditionally. When can we let go of this need to change, fix, or heal our Sacred Wound and just BE … and loving unconditionally ourselves and others? And enJOYing the ever present moment regardless of how long it will last or whether or not it will hurt us later. I choose to see Love differently now. I choose to see my Sacred Wound differently now. I choose LOVE! How about you?

Resistance blocks JOY

This month a series of events allowed me to become aware when I was in resistance and therefore blocking the flow of universal love and joy. I participated in Emmanuel Dagher’s Core Attunements that discussed Evolved Wealth where he discussed service and tithing, which brought up some resistance and resistance was the purpose of the meditation. I had to observe what was being triggered, which was partially caused by my understanding of the biblical implications of ‘tithing’ and also my fear around not being open to this offering of love. I wasn’t really clear what ‘tithing’ meant to me. However, Emmanuel clarified that our giving of time is also tithing and that prior to us accepting financial compensation our time was and still is an acceptable form of tithing. However I had resistance to this. I knew how I freely offered my time but did I openly offer a percentage of my time and/or money to service the world? Do I have an expectation of personal gain when I write my blogs or offer my radio/YouTube interviews? Or do I do this as well as other services to unconditionally ‘gift’ the world and make it a better place?

The other resistance that came up for me was around abandonment. This past 10 days my boy Jasper got frightened over a raccoon that, to Jasper, threatened his territory. Cats are extremely territorial! It took too long to get this raccoon out of the house: 30 minutes of screaming and using a broom handle to scare the unscarable (not a pretty sigh). This created a huge amount of anxiety – of which I had never seen – in my beautiful, loving boy Jasper. He no longer felt safe in his own home. And when he wasn’t coming home to sleep, it triggered my abandonment issues. I kept focusing on the pain of Jasper not coming home and taking it personally. I was in resistance again.

So these two unnerving experiences – around tithing and abandonment – allowed me to be open to a new book being released by Gabby Bernstein “The Universe Has Your Back!´ as well as Gabby’s video The Art of Manifesting: 5 Secrets to Attracting What You Want Video Workshop. Combined with Emmanuel’s meditations I was able to begin to see some important pieces to how I fall into resistance and block what the universe is waiting to offer. The 2nd experience was far more important to me as I was observing a core belief: abandonment. Abandonment, as most of you know, is something I have been working on all my life. What I had to realize was regardless of what was happening to Jasper it did not have anything to do with him abandoning me. However, my focus on how I was feeling and the emptiness that it was reflecting or the pain of abandonment, it was that feeling that was keeping me in resistance to being open to shifting my focus on what I wanted.

The problem for most of us is that we have a goal and instead of keeping our vibration on what we want – so that the Universal Flow of love, joy, peace or consciousness can bring around this possibility – we instead focus on the lack, the opposite of what we want or the absence of what we want. As soon as we even say what we ‘want’ we are often already thinking of it because of what we don’t want! We want to lose weight, but we continually focus on the weight we want to lose, measuring and weighing ourselves instead of having a clear picture of what we want and not worrying about how it comes about. We want financial security but we worry about our bills. We want health and well-being but we focus on the pain or on what isn’t working. Do you see the flaw there? The Universal flow of Love, Joy and Well-being exist at all times and we receive exactly what we are asking for at any given time. However, what we are asking for is usually the opposite of what we want.

If you are experiencing anything you don’t want it won’t change unless you shift your focus from that to allowing and receiving this flow of Love, Joy and Well-being.

I knew Jasper was teaching me a very important lesson and I couldn’t easily allow him to make his own choices if I was stuck in thinking this was about me being abandoned. He couldn’t heal his safety issues if I was stuck in my own. He needed space to heal but I could only focus on the pain I was experiencing. Just like the fear of believing I wasn’t making a difference by unconditionally serving and tithing.

When our fears get triggered we fall back into patterns that keep everything stuck. I knew these were my issues and that if I couldn’t shift out of them I would continue the patterns.

Unfortunately, I completely believed that Jasper was fully on the road to recovery, only to discover that he had far serious conditions. I dedicated a blog to Jasper, which you can read here. I only hope that I have the strength to remember the love he shared with me over these years as a true blessing and not get triggered by my abandonment issues.

So, how do we open ourselves to the resistance so we can shift back into the Infinite Flow of Love, Joy and Well-being? We have to move out of linear time. We have to shift into the Now moment where we aren’t focused on our past triggers or our worries about the future. The Now moment will allow us to connect with our Divine Spark, our True Essence of BEing. Our truth lies within us and we can choose – when we are consciously in the Now moment – whether we want Fear or Love! It’s only when we are in the ever present moment that we can even observe what we are feeling instead of being lost in our minds, lost in either the past or the future. Once we are aware we can then make a choice. We can step out of our pain and fear and overcome our resistance as we step into our true essence with the power to receive LOVE and to know JOY!
